Three weeks passed by since WorldView is available in the iTunes AppStore. So far we are amazed by its success, especially in Europe. WorldView has been downloaded about 130.000 times from all over the world, reached number 1 in download charts in Germany, Switzerland and Romania and staying in the top 10 of many other european countries for quite some time. Thank you everybody! Sadly in the biggest iPhone market, the U.S., it is not yet even reached to top 100. We hope that will change with the upcoming new versions.
But as announced, this is far not the end of the WorldView story. An update to the free edition is nearly complete adding one new feature "random" and lots of smaller bug fixes. Using the new random feature, you will get a lits of 10 random webcams from webcams.travel. With a refresh button, you can even update that list whenever you want and find some new unknown places very easily.
Some more new features will come in with WorldView Live. The "random" feature provides even more varieties in the Live edition than in the free version of WorldView. It will also show you a list of random webcams where "live" pictures are available (depending on the refresh time of the webcam itself only) and even a list or random webcams which do have video streaming available!
Additionally, there are many more enhancements over the free edition like adding your own webcam, search for webcams using a world map or getting search suggestions for a search string.
Two more features, which were originally planned for the initial release of WorldView Live had to be postponed, since they are more complicate to implement and need more time than we anticipated: Zoom and Bookmark groups. So these features will be available in an update to WorldView Live later on.
So for now, both version have reached feature freeze and will be tested intensively before we submit them to the AppStore. We hope you are looking forward to these new versions as much as we are.
So long for now, back to testing ;-)
Oh, there is one more thing, have a look!

It would be great to have a way to manually refresh each image. This was a nice feature in Locations. The reason is, if you have web cams from around the world, I don't want to have the automatic update like now, since in many places it's night and I still want to see the image during daylight. Also sometimes, there is something happening right now and I want to refresh on demand and not wait for the automatic refresh, which in some cases takes quite some time. I know that it's always dependend on the camera and web server itself, but more control about it would be better.
Otherwise, great product and I am looking forward to the new version.
