A new foundation and a major step forward

Today the new versions 1.5 of WorldView and WorldView Live have been released. Both represent a major step forward creating the best webcam application. Over the last months I spend lots of weekends refactoring about 50% of the app and writing so many things from scratch. And I couldn't be happier with the result.

Beside adding new features, the majority of the changes result in a much faster handling off the application. It is so much faster to use, even when using an iPod touch 1st generation on firmware 2.2.1. This is the slowest combination of software and hardware that is out there and even having several hundred of bookmarks isn't too much to handle for the app while keeping responsive on user interactions....

WorldView Live - Indie+Relief

All proceeds made from WorldView Live on January 20th, 2010 will be donated to Haiti via German Red Cross.

A big thanks to Indie+Relief for organizing a bunch of Mac & iPhone developers who are donating proceeds from sales made on Wednesday January 20, 2010 to various Haitian relief charities....

1 million downloads in 309 days

WorldView (free edition) was released on 20th October 2008, 309 days ago as version 1.0. Since then it was a fun, sometimes tough but overall an awesome ride! WorldView reached overall download chart position 1 in numerous AppStores like Germany, Switzerland and Romania. It was number 2 in Austria, Saudi Arabia, in the top 5 in Belgium, France, Greece, Luxembourg. WorldView was also one of the worldwide top 10 download apps of 2008 in category travel. But the biggest thing happened today:

950.000 free downloads and one of the top 10 apps

950.000 free downloads

WorldView free edition reached 950.000 unique downloads last week! What a number, and only 50.000 more to go for the million ;-) At a daily download rate with about 1.200 downloads a day, this doesn't seem to be too far away.

The Times today listed WorldView Live as one of the top 10 apps in the AppStore! This is great news and we are happy that there are people out there enjoying our both apps....
